At one time, approximately 8 years ago, I was interested in painting the floor of a room in our home. It seemed more trouble than what I felt like doing at the time so I put the idea on the back burner, not to mention that I questioned it's ability to withstand three very active kids and two dogs {one of which was a Rottweiler/German Shepherd that thought she was a kid}. It seemed like too much to ask at the time; however, now, thoughts keep coming back to them.
Jonathan Adler's simple white is perfect for this entry.
I think the pink chevron pattern paired with the Hermès orange is beautiful and is now one of my favourite colour combinations.
No one can design a painted floor like Mary McDonald. She created just the right amount of geometric for this space. She really is my design hero.
Another Mary McDonald design... soft and elegant.
I love this pattern and the way an illusion of a rug is created.
These stained floors by designer Mark Cutler give the illusion of paint and make quite an impact.
What do you think? Would you consider, or do you have, painted floors?

Years and years ago, I hand-painted a black and white faux marble square design on the floor of our entry in an old farmhouse. The more wear it received, the better it looked.
ReplyDeleteAlas, I now live in a small cottage sans entry with sisal carpeting throughout. The only floor suitable for painting is the kitchen - which is my chef/husband's domain. So...that's out. Sigh. (Maybe I could whisper suggestions in his ear while he's sleeping. lol!)

I adore painted floorboards! It gives such dimension to a room and I had read that they are very durable, a definite plus when you have little ones underfoot like I do. In our previous home, I had my daughter's bedroom floor done in a pale pink. Everyone always commented on how much they loved it and it still looked stunning after all the wear and tear!
ReplyDeleteI love painted floors and would definitely consider them. I especiallly love the "rug" in the kitchen above
ReplyDeleteThese painted floors are gorgeous! I think a painted floor adds incredible dimension and personality to a room. White painted floors, while more subtle than patterns, can be very soothing and uplifting, making a space feel large and airy.
ReplyDeleteThe pink chevron floors are really unique and would add a feminine touch to the room. It also makes the area appear more spacious.
